SMALL GROUPS
Are you ready to become a Small Group Leader?
Leading a small group is a critical to the mission of Fairfax Community Church. As one of our two essential environments, small groups are the primary place where people pursue discipleship in community. Our small group leaders are those who have humbly accepted the call to be used by God as an instrument of discipleship in the lives of others.
If you are interested in leading a small group, the process is simple. First, read over the affirmations, responsibilities and expectations below. If you find yourself unsure of any of them, please contact Andy Campbell (andycampbell@fairfax.cc). Next, fill out our online leader application and ministry covenant. Once completed, one of our Small Group Directors will contact you to set up an interview. The interview allows us to get to hear your story and to clarify any questions you might have about being a small group leadership.

• I consider Fairfax Community to be my church home.
• I understand the vision for small groups at Fairfax Community.
• I believe to the best of my knowledge that God wants me involved here.
• I will lead my group in accordance to the expectations of Small Group Leaders as defined by Fairfax Community. (see expectations of Small Group Leader below)
Minimum Requirements:
• Read the small group leader’s job description below.
• Complete the application online (see below).
• Complete the Ministry Covenant online (see below).
• Once we review your completed application, we will call you for an interview.

Small Group Leader’s Job Description
The purpose of small groups is to help people to love God and love others by creating a predictable and conversational environment that pursues authentic community through mutual learning, care and accountability.
A Small Group Leader is the primary person responsible for providing his/her group with care, vision, direction and support consistent with Fairfax Community. The leader meets regularly with his/her Small Group Director and attends training opportunities with other small group leaders.
Small Group Leader Responsibilities:
• Lead the group to pursue deeper intimacy with God.
• Build authentic community with each other.
• Facilitate opportunities for the group to serve together.
Small Group Leader Expectations:
• Participate in Small Group Leader Round Tables (twice annually).
• Meet with Small Group Director for 1-on-1 meetings.
• Regularly communicate changes within the group to your Small Group Director.
• Encourage the group through all the phases of the group lifecycle.
